Nicholas Jones was a BBC industrial and political correspondent for thirty years and he continues to write and broadcast on issues affecting politics and the news media. Jones is a member of several groups campaigning to raise standards and access for journalists and he hopes the new Centre for Freedom of the Media will focus even more attention on the key role which journalists can play in defending democratic safeguards.
